Pastel Parade of all things spring and Easter is in my home decor<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

My favorite color is blue. Our home is small and cozy. I’ve tried to keep a unity in the color scheme throughout the rooms. We have a lot of white in our furniture to make things feel a bit bigger and blend with the walls. In each room, the dominant color is some shade of blue. Because I love to decorate seasonally, the blue has various partners of color through the year. In our living\/dining room the French blue pairs with silvers, golds and whites at Christmas\/winter; with light pinks and reds for Valentines; in the spring it is joined by pastels; summer sees minty greens, yellows and tans; 4 th of July, brings in the red; and fall has light shades of orange and browns.<\/p>\n

I love the pairing of other colors with the blue. It makes the room feel all refreshed and renewed. The pastels bring a bit of softness to the space. Reminds me of the little Easter dresses I wore as a girl with the matching pastel shoes and purse. I love to bring reminders of favorite parts of our life stories into my decor. Easter was always a special time of the year growing up. My Aunt Donna hosted the dinner and always had an egg hunt for my brothers, cousins and I.<\/p>\n

I try to have simple centerpieces for the dining room table. We love to play Sunday night cards or games here and I don’t want a ton of pieces to move when we do. This fills the bill. My mom painted this bunny basket years ago. I’ve filled it with painted eggs, fluffy chicks (one with a pair of glasses in an ode to my hubby,) orangey carrots and little eggs that have the words: Jesus, risen, faith. It’s sitting on a little flower table runner I got from Home Goods<\/em><\/strong>, a few years ago. They have wonderful table runners at very affordable prices. The bunny basket is flanked by sparkly candles.<\/p>\n

The hutch behind the dining room table is decked for Easter. A bunny garland hung on the knobs is flanked by two fabric eggs. The painted panels in the hutch I drew and my mom painted (I love this little feature she and I created together. The panels are velcroed on and I change them seasonally) the little open shelf has “chocolate” foiled bunnies and a couple sugar eggs with scenes. These remind me of Easter baskets in my youth. The chair next to the hutch has a Peter Rabbit pillow on it. I love to feature famous bunnies like Peter. In the front of the living room and in the bar area I have another famous one, the White Rabbit from Alice.<\/p>\n

The buffet is in full Easter swing. A dessert bar fit for the Easter bunny himself, the most famous bunny of all, and his friends is all laid out. I love setting this area up for celebrations and holidays. It’s also a great place just to have snacks or desserts set up. I’ve had so much fun with my tiered tray since purchasing it from Pottery Barn<\/em><\/strong>. The White Rabbit collection of theirs looks so cute in it, too. I’ve been collecting pieces for several years now from it. On the tiered tray is a bunny hauling a basket that holds an egg, a bunny cupcake stand, bunny ramekins and bunny divided treat container . The tiered tray is lined with adorable bunny napkins I got from Crate & Barrel<\/em><\/strong>, a few years back. The egg candy dishes are also from there. The little Easter egg lights bring some whimsy. I filled the containers with foil covered chocolate eggs, jelly beans and m&ms. I got a couple of cupcakes from our local and wonderful cupcake store called The Cake Cottage<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The big bunnies were painted by my mom from a kit years ago. On the left side of the buffet, is a napkins holder and bunny plates purchased at Crate & Barrel<\/em><\/strong>, a few years back. Next to it is a bunny bowl from the White Rabbit collection from Pottery Barn<\/em><\/strong>. The pastel bunny garland is the same as the one on the hutch. “Enjoy the Little Things” sign I got at JoAnns <\/em><\/strong>last year. At the foot of the sign are more White Rabbit pieces from Pottery Barn. <\/em><\/strong>The egg table runner is from Home Goods<\/em><\/strong>, bought a few years back.<\/p>\n

In the living room, more bunnies await. I decorated the mantel with white bunnies dancing across it. The large center bunny was purchased at Pottery Barn<\/em><\/strong>. The smaller ones I got at Tuesday Morning<\/em><\/strong>. The little sign that says, “Some bunny loves you” I got at Marshalls<\/em><\/strong>. I added twinkle light strand to make it sparkle. The garland of bunnies hanging over the mirror I purchased on Etsy last year.<\/p>\n

I set up the bar area in a Wonderland theme in honor of the White Rabbit. I love how it came out. The Wonderland sign is a piece from Jim Shore<\/em><\/strong>. The little tea cups, spoon basket, teapot and glasses are all works of art with the beautiful Alice illustrations on them. I collected these pieces over time from Home Goods<\/em><\/strong>. I set out some strawberry lemonade and put little heart cookies purchased from Trader Joe’s<\/em><\/strong> to have an impromptu tea.<\/p>\n

Here is a montage of a few of my favorite parts to the bar. The tea time candle holder was painted by my mom from a kit. The front slides out and I can change it out seasonally. She painted 15 different inserts for this and I just love it. The glass snack bowl that holds the little heart cookies is from Crate & Barrel<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I set up the cozy chair and ottoman to go with my Wonderland bar. It’s outfitted with an Alice pillow purchased from The Disney Store, <\/em><\/strong> a few years back. I have a early edition (1940s) of “Alice In The Looking Glass, ” (given to me by one of my former students) ready to be read. Also a Alice tea book with fun themed recipes. Next to the chair, is a black and white silhouette of Alice. I collect these from a wonderful shop in Disneyland. They are hand cut. Below it is a Alice record, it was given to me by another student. This is a very comfy place to sip lemonade, dream and read.<\/p>\n

The bench that welcomes people to our home has a saying for the season. It’s flanked by two bunnies. The letterboard I purchased at JoAnns<\/em><\/strong>, last year. The irony of the saying with it being in a room full of bunnies isn’t lost on me . I grew up going to church to celebrate the risen Savior, our Redeemer. I have wonderful memories of the trumpets triumphantly playing, being dressed in pastels, wearing orchid corsages, singing for joy at the good news that, “He has risen!” My parents modeled to us that was what mattered the most. We then enjoyed our baskets and egg hunts. I just loved all of the day from beginning to end. Still do. Love making up Easter baskets and having a good meal.<\/p>\n

This shelf is near the front door. It hosts a few more of my mom’s painted pieces from kits…another bunny basket and a bunny with a basket box. I have some little spring Knick knacks of a watering can, basket from Mary Engelbreit Store<\/em><\/strong>, purchased years ago and several Precious Moments <\/em><\/strong>figurines. The couple represents Bob and I. The little boy with the chicks was given to me by my brother long ago…I think of him when I look at it and I also think of our little boy, who is in heaven. The top shelf, has a beautiful shelf sitter bunny print illustrated by Brenda Calvert<\/em><\/strong>. She has a phenomenal Etsy shop. The arrangement has dangling eggs with gems and illustrations of bunnies and chicks. The eggs came from Pottery Barn<\/em><\/strong>, a few years back.<\/p>\n
