Decorating for Fall

Hello, fall!

This last year, my husband and I have been remodeling our living room and dining room. This space is one big room. It’s our place to host holidays, entertain, play games and read. I wanted the vibe to be elegant, yet cozy and comfortable. I’m excited to share the room in all its fall glory.

This little bench is at the end of our couch and is what you see when you enter our front door. My little greeter, Lady, also wants to welcome you to our home!

I love decorating for the seasons. There isn’t a holiday that I don’t love. I grew up in a family that likes to celebrate these times. I proudly carry on the tradition through my decorating and entertaining. I love to create the ambience to bring the season to life.

This is a step back view of the fireplace. I filled the mantel with various sizes and colors of pumpkins. The mirror over the mantel has a wreath of flowers and pumpkins (found at JoAnns.) My husband and I designed our fireplace. He did all the building and tile work. I just love how it turned out!

I like to have our story represented in our home. The little black rocker, on the hearth, is from my childhood (you might have noticed the rocker has a pumpkin here and in another photo it has a sign…I like to rearrange things during the season here and there.) The coffee table was made by my husband. He gave it to me when we were dating. These pieces are so sentimental and special to me.

Our bar area is a fun place to decorate for the seasons or a theme. It’s been such a wonderful place to set up a drink station for entertaining.

This comfy chair is right next to the bar area. It’s a lovely place to put up your feet and read.

Across from the bar area, near the front door, is this hutch. The shelves hold china and pilgrim figures, painted by my mom. I added some pinecones and flowers, a theme I tried to carry through out the space. The bottom shelf has an arrangement I created. I used a tin container (from the Dollar Store) and filled it with pumpkins and pinecones (from JoAnns.) It lights up, too, bringing a twinkle to this corner of the room.

The large hutch behind the table is something we had built for the room. We got to be a part of designing it, which was really fun. Multiple garlands hang across it saying, “Blessed Harvest,” little fall characters (yes, painted by my mom, again😊) flank it. The theme of pinecones and floral is seen again here in the swag. The beautiful chandelier, we got last year from Lamps Plus (the fireplace sconces match this, as well as the hall chandelier. They are just smaller in size.)

This is our buffet. It’s a new piece to this space. The cupboards and drawers are from IKEA. My husband put in the molding bridge and shelf. He also did the tile work on the counter. It’s a wonderful place to spread out the food for parties or holidays.

This view of the room was taken from the dining room side. I took this photo as it was becoming evening. I love the lighting. The table is all set for an enchanted evening. It’s truly what I love about this room, a place to have dinner parties or just a quiet evening, us three.

Hope you enjoyed my little fall tour! How do you decorate your house for this season?
