Living My List With Thanksgiving … The Blessings of Beginning to Blog

Blessed Harvest…thankful to begin the journey of blogging

I grew up surrounded by women who made it a priority to do what made them happy. They were artists, athletes, musicians, gardeners, hostesses and homemakers. They inspired me to want the same for my life. Often we are so caught up in what needs to be done, we forget to prioritize what matters to us. Doing what we love slides down the list, when it should be at the top. These things are what make life worth living.

That’s what my blog is all about, living my list, putting what matters to me at the top of it. I have dreamt of writing a blog for a long time. I’m so excited this dream is becoming a reality! Click on the link below to learn about the inspiration behind the blog and a bit about me.

On Lindy’s List, I will share my passions for decorating, celebrating, entertaining, organizing, planning, creating, writing and adventuring at my 2nd home Disneyland. The themes for this first blog post are Thanksgiving and fall.

Lindy’s List debuts

At the top of my list is loving my tribe. These last few years, I’ve been on a journey with several dear ones who are aging. It’s been a sacred time. A time of being there. A time of focusing and being present. It’s been hard, wonderful, sad, sweet and most of all very precious, reminding me how important it is to be all in. My dad has had some very hard health issues to walk through. I’m so grateful he is here to celebrate this Thanksgiving.

We had another loved one need us recently, delaying my beginning this blog. Being there for my loved ones is my highest priority and honor, but caused me to share more in this first blog then I planned to. Originally, this content would have spanned several weeks, because of this and the fact I’m introducing the blog, this post is longer then it would normally be.

Dad’s place setting this year is very meaningful after all he has faced this year!

Next on my list is home decorating. I love the whole process of making a home beautiful. Decorating for the seasons is something I love to do. My home is all decked out for the celebration of Thanksgiving this week. I try to create an atmosphere that is cozy and welcoming. My favorite color is blue, you’ll see it woven into the design for fall, along with florals and pinecones through out with other elements like pumpkins, leaves, turkeys and pilgrims.

Celebrating holidays, occasions and people is about taking the time to cherish the day and those in it. Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to do both these things. I like to host little themed parties, set a festive table and create memorable gifts, sometimes elaborately planned and sometimes simple and spontaneous.

The following links will take you to a fall themed game night I did (featuring the cheeseboard pictured below) and a list of fall food finds with where to get them:

Creating is such an outlet for me. Whether it’s making a festive food, a fairy garden for the season, or a themed centerpiece, I love it all. I created several vignettes and fairy gardens for the season.

Tablescapes are something I really enjoy doing . They make mealtimes more festive and special.

Here are two seasonal tablescapes one for fall, the other for Thanksgiving:
